eTax System Assists Kigoma DC to Collect Taxes Electronically

DataVision International in collaboration with Kigoma District Council have embarked into a result-oriented project which focuses at replacing  paper based tax collection with an electronic approach. This need is an outcome of the directive of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania requiring local government authorities to introduce electronic revenue collection systems for the purpose of enhancing the collection of revenue and managing of the same.

Given the agreement between DataVision and District Council of Kigoma, the tax collection system namely eTax, which has been developed by DataVision was to be piloted for a period of one month and thereafter rolled out to the identified tax collection points. The solution is linked to the Point of Sale (POS) to enable mobility of revenue collectors. With the awareness that rural areas might be having low or no network signal, eTax also functions on offline mode and push the transactional data anytime a substantial signal is available.

At the moment the solution, with more than 25 inbuilt performance monitoring reports, has been fully deployed to several points identified to be potential when it comes to tax collection. DataVision provides support in mapping and collecting data on tax collectors, to achieve detailed information of where the taxpayers are located and the payment status.

Since DataVision International has vast experience in the paperless collection with GIS mapping, the taxpayers’ database creation comes in line with our strength. With the help of the Government Authorities, DataVision International has managed to ensure that the pilot phase is fully functional at some of the revenue sources assuring maximum monitoring and control of the collections at all times.
