PESP TaZ (www.pesptz.org) assures accountability and transparency in the Education Sector
DataVision team of professional consultants are involved in the Primary Education Support Project (PESP), a two-year (2011/12-2013/14) project utilizing BAe funds to procure and distribute books and desks to all primary schools in Tanzania mainland. PESP aims at improving the quality of primary education by providing necessary inputs in schools.
Guided by the mutual agreement between the United Republic of Tanzania represented by the Ministry of Finance (GOT), BAE Systems plc (BAE), the United Kingdom Government’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and the United Kingdom Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) for specific support to the Primary Education sub-sector in Tanzania, ensuring the refund is used accordingly to improve the studying environments of the primary schools in Tanzania.
The PESP Portal is dynamic portal provides a full control of the books and the desks delivered to the primary schools all over the country. With such portals, all the Education Sector Stakeholders can keep close track on the accountability in a fully transparent manner.
Recently, Jambo Plastics had been given a tender to supply 30,996 desks in six regions namely Dar es Salaam, Pwani, Lindi, Mtwara,Morogoro and Tanga. In every the region, each district has received 756 of hard plastic desk and chair sets of which 453 desks are for lower primary level (Standard 1 – 4) and 303 for higher primary level (Standard 5 – 7).
Jambo Plastics has already distributed the desks in the 38 councils and they are yet to supply 61,728 wooden steel framed school desks and chairs to the rest of the 127 councils.
